Today we introduce to you one of our newest planning committee members, Jason Guerrero. Thanks to his employer, WestStar Bank, he's been infused with an even greater sense of corporate and personal responsibility for the well-being of this community. Read on to learn more about February's Millennial of the Month (MotM).
1. Tell us about yourself.
I am Jason, born and raised in El Paso, TX. I am a recent graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor’s in Finance. I was a full-time student and was employed full-time during my entire college career. In my free time, I love being outside exploring nature, hiking, and jogging along the Franklin Mountains. I love to read and have recently found a passion for yoga.
2. What made you want to join RISE?
I have great passion to the success of this community. Along with a great opportunity to learn about the different local agency programs currently helping the community, my current employer has set a great example by encouraging the concept of becoming a positive member in the community. I have always looked for opportunities within my busy schedule to help the community in any way I can. Joining RISE has been a unique way to connect with the community alongside other millennials with the same values. Plus, giving back to my community has always given me a sense of gratification.
3. What is your favorite thing about the El Paso community?
My favorite part of El Paso is the unique warm desert climate with the close proximity to the natural scenery of the Franklin Mountains that's all mixed with a great sense of multi-culturalism. El Paso has a great pulse and cultivates a wonderful quality of life. The downtown revitalization along with the economic growth makes me proud to call El Paso home.
4. What would you say to someone thinking about joining RISE?
If you are a fully committed individual who has a passion to help out your community then RISE is an amazing opportunity to involve yourself with. Not to mention the amazing opportunity to connect with other passionate peers.
5. Describe your ideal day in El Paso. What stops are a must?
Your ideal day in El Paso would not be complete without witnessing the amazing view from the tip of the Franklin Mountains. Then hanging out downtown at the new San Jacinto Plaza with friends after catching a Chihuahua’s game. It gives you a great appreciation for our unique multi-cultural city.
